Voltage Through The Water

Voltage Through The Water

Getting away from the Boatworks, especially in the spring or early summer takes a great deal of effort with Boat projects underway, launching and the ever present list of emails to address.  But I was invited by the Canadian Electric boat Company to visit their Montreal factory.  We have been monitoring this company as we look to expand our portfolio of unique watercraft.

Absolute Classics Marine is one of a very few business’s that specialized in a broad spectrum of Boating Lifestyle services and products.  With the advent of electric technology so pervasive in the automobile industry, it is natural for boat manufacturers to use that technology to their advantage.  The Canadian Electric Boat Company is at the leading edge, with 4 retro styled models underway.

I arrived at the factory and was pleasantly surprised to see the boats on display in their showroom.  I was given a tour of their operation and was able to study the details of each model.  Their show piece is the 22 foot runabout which mimics the style of a pre war Chris-Craft.  It is powered by an electric motor and capable of significant speed.  Next in the line is a delightful fantail launch. It is nicely appointed, roomy and features a “Surrey” top to provide shade from the sun.

Apparently, 90% of the buyers are women who love the simplicity of operation, ample seating and a center table.  Great for entertaining and good conversation.  Another smaller, more basic launch is available with similar attributes.  Finally, they have just introduced what I would call a “tender.” It is somewhat more modern and very practical with plenty of room for gear and passengers.

Electric power in boats is coming on strong as people seek more environment solutions to their boating needs.  Contact us for more information on Electric boats and we can provide you with the most up to date of products on the market today.
