This 1955 21' Cobra is one of the most sought after Classic Chris-Crafts of all time. Originally purchased new off of the New York dealership showroom floor it was shipped to England to race on Lake Windermere. Featured in several magazines over years, the boat was stored in covered storage since the 1980's and briefly lent to a museum in the UK. She was restored in the mid 1980's, by 2018 she was in need of a concours level restoration befitting its notoriety. Originally contacted by her longtime owners in 2018 we started the process of finding a buyer and bringing her back the UK to our shop for restoration.

Now faithfully restored to Concours level finish, this boat is ready for a new owner to take her out on the Boat Show Circuit or just enjoy on the water. No expenses were spared on the restoration, and she is equipped with a custom built Ryan Trailer finished in matching gold paint.

Bottom

The bottom was completely rebuilt and is now a 5200 "no soak" planked bottom. Original Reed & Prince silicon bronze fasteners were used, and the bottom is now painted with the correct gold and black color scheme. The gold paint matches the fin and trailer, and the black paint on the bottom has the correct graphite powder mixed in.

Hull

The deck and hullsides are also now skinned with 3mm marine plywood and the new bookmatched mahogany has been epoxy/bonded to the new inner hull. The Fin was completely restored with any imperfections in the fibreglass eliminated and the fit has been corrected (they are notoriously hard to fit). The Fin even has matching numbers, which is rare for a Cobra as at the factory it would likely take multiple attempts to find a set of hatches that fit.

Engine

The original numbers matching 331ci Chrysler Marine Hemi has been restored to a very high level and painted to match a sample of the original paint that was uncovered on rebuild.

Interior

The interior was brought back to original specifications and also restored to a very high level. All gauges were re-done as per original, and the wiring is period correct right down to the correct copper staples used. The steering wheel was also completely restored, and the original aircraft style throttle is fitted.

Hardware

All the original hardware is present and re-plated to a show level finish.

Options

Also included is an extremely rare Chris-Craft hour gauge which is restored but uninstalled if the customer wants to take it to a judged show.

Trailer

A custom built Ryan trailer painted in matching gold paint with custom wheels is included with the boat.
